Prof. Javid Taheri

Queen’s University Belfast, UK

Bio: 

Javid Taheri is a Full Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Karlstad University, Sweden. He received his PhD in Mobile Computing from University of Sydney (Australia) in 2007, and his Bachelor and Masters of Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran (Iran) in 1998 and 2000, respectively.

He is the recipient of many awards including being selected as one of the top 200 young researchers in the world by the Heidelberg Forum in 2013, the recipient of several best paper awards since 2007, and the recipient of the prestigious IEEE Middle Career Researcher award from TSCS in Scalable Computing in 2019. He holds several cloud/networking related industrial certification from VMware, Cisco, Microsoft and IBM. His research interests includes Cloud Computing, Edge/Fog Computing, Network Function Virtualization, Software-defined Networking, and AI-based optimization techniques.

He is the editor of a book entitled ‘‘Big Data and Software Defined Networks’’, and is currently co-editing another book entitled ‘‘Edge Computing: Models, Technologies and Applications’’. He co-authored >180 scientific articles and papers, has been serving as an editor for >15 journals, as well as a member of organizing team for >30 international conferences.

Prof.Giuseppe Di Fatta

Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy

Bio: 

Giuseppe Di Fatta is a Full Professor at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (Italy) since 2022. From 2006 to 2021, he was with the University of Reading (UK), where he also served as Head of the Department of Computer Science from 2016 to 2021. Between 2004 and 2006, he was at the University of Konstanz (Germany), where he was part of the initial development team of KNIME, a widely used data science and machine learning platform. From 2000 to 2004, he worked with the High-Performance Computing and Networking Institute of the National Research Council of Italy, and in 1999 he was a research fellow at the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI) in Berkeley, California.

His research interests include artificial intelligence, machine learning algorithms, data science, and data-driven applications in both scientific and industrial domains. He has authored more than 140 peer-reviewed publications and has been a member of the IEEE since 2002 and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) since 2009. He is also a member of the Technical Committee on Machine Learning (TC-ML) of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society.
